The Classic Insole was designed for shoes that have narrower toe boxes (daily wear, lifestyle shoes), while The Athletic Insole was designed for shoes that have wider toe boxes (athletic, performance shoes). The Universal Insole was designed for closed-toed shoes without removable insoles (loafers, booties, flats). You can also decide based on your intended activity level: for walking and lower impact activities, we recommend The Classic Insole or Universal Insole, and for higher impact activities, we recommend The Athletic Insole. We suggest wearing them every day, at least at first. This way, they’ll have time to mold to your feet and deliver the full benefits of proper arch support. Some people may experience an initial break-in period with minor discomfort – that’s completely normal, and should go away in due time! However, if you experience extreme pain during the break-in process, we recommend you stop wearing your insoles until you consult a medical professional.

In general, your insoles should be broken in after about 10 hours of walking with them (or 30 miles – whichever comes first!)

We strongly suggest keeping your insoles in the same pair of shoes. The insoles will mold to the shape of your feet based on the way you walk in a specific pair of shoes, so regularly moving them between shoes won’t provide optimal support and may impact the duration that the insoles last.

Fulton insoles are quite durable, and will last about as long as a pair of shoes. We recommend replacing your Fulton insoles when you replace your shoes.

Yes! But we recommend that you break them in first by walking on them, to give your body and the insole time to adjust—especially if you’ve never worn supportive insoles before.

Sometimes the body takes time to adjust to arch support, especially while you break in your insoles. It’s not unusual to feel slight discomfort for the first walk or two, until the insoles fully break in. If your pain is severe or persists, please take the insoles out of your shoes and consult a medical professional.

We recommend wearing socks! Although they can be worn barefoot, Fulton insoles were designed to work best with socks.

We recommend buying the same size insoles as the shoes you’re planning to wear them in. If you’re between full sizes, order a size up! The Classic and Athletic insoles are intended for shoes with removable insoles (generally sneakers and boots). The Universal insoles are intended shoes without removable insoles (like some loafers, flats, boots and booties). Fulton insoles are not intended for sandals or high heeled shoes.

The Classic and Athletic Insoles are offered in both standard and wide sizes. The Universal Insoles are only available in standard widths.

For the Classic or Athletic Insoles, it depends what shoes you plan to wear them in. If the shoes are standard width, we recommend ordering our standard width Fulton insoles. If the shoes are wide width, then we recommend ordering wide width Fulton insoles. For the Universal Insoles, one width supports all!

First, check to make sure you’ve removed your current insoles before inserting your Fulton insoles. If you aren’t satisfied with your initial fit, we strongly encourage you to try your insoles in multiple pairs of shoes before deciding which to keep them in and mold them to. If your Fulton House Shoes are too big, try them with a thicker winter sock. Many customers prefer the flexibility of a slightly looser fit in warmer months and more snug fit with winter socks.f your Fulton House Shoes are too small, continue breaking them in: the cork and foam base will compress and the wool upper will expand to comfortably accommodates your foot in a matter of hours. They should feel snug but comfortable. If your back heel is hanging over the edge or the wool is too tight, exchanging to a size up might be best.

If your House Shoes get dirty, they can be spot-cleaned with mild soap, Woolite and water as needed. Do not wash them in a washing machine or dry them in a drier.
